WOHA! I came across this Opera House by Zaha Hadid while surfing the internet. It actually just opened & I´m amazed!

love Zaha Hadid, she´s an iraqi architect & creates really unique buildings/environments. They´re simple, yet full of expressions and details! She´s won many international competitions and recieved several Honorary Degrees as well as winning the architecture´s equivalent of the Nobel Prize. Dont think I need to add anything else! All this pretty much speaks for itself! :) Go woman!

I really hope I get to see this Opera House live sometime. It has elements from a science fiction movie to the Opera House in Sydney. And while looking so futuristic it still looks in balance. It still has the aesthetics needed for a formal Opera House.

Some suggestions for healthy green cities!! Which is pretty much needed all over the world..

I guess it can be "overkill" sometimes. But I really like the fact that the green rooftops can have many functions. Who wouldnt want to walk in a "rooftop" jungle? Or perhaps play golf? Sunbake? .....and while doing this help the environmet? Its a win win...

I love the way the green "issue" is being played with! But ofcourse there has to be some rules regarding how the city/area will look like as a whole. :)

Im really looking forward to play with this idea and apply it to my future projects in my very own way !

As I´ve mentioned briefly before I´m almost done with my bachelor in Urban Design & City Planning. And I will continue with master so I have a special interest in everything that has to do with that including; design in general, architecture, landscape design, cities, how people experience & interact with cities etc. From now on this will be my main focus on this blog as it will help keep me updated on whats happening in the world :)

So I read VG today and woha, have you guys SEEN what they are building in London? Its already dominating Londons skyline big time, so annoyed that I didnt get to see it when I was there in january. (I guess its cause we kept mostly to the shopping streets around Oxford st. tehee...)

Some facts:

• its a skyscraper under construction in Southwark, London
• When completed in 2012, it will be the tallest building in the European Union & the 45th tallest building in the WORLD!
• It will have 72 floors (!) + 15 radiator floors in the roof.  And there will be a viewing gallery and open-air observation deck on the top floor (72nd). (I guess its time London also got a really special high look-out building... It seems like its the new trend in every major city these days! Just think of the Casino/hotel in Singapore. crazyness)
• The tower will stand 310m tall, and has been designed with an irregular triangular shape from the base to top. It will be clad entirely in glass.
• Renzo Piano is the buildings architect (he´s done so much amazing stuff like the Pompidou centre in Paris) and he has worked together with architectural firm Broadway Malyan during the planning stage of the project.
• Its function: hotel/office building. Shagri-La has "booked" the 18 upper floors for a luxury hotel.(defintley staying there at some stage...;)

Londons skyline is gonna be so different! More edgy. It´s a symbol of towering ambition?

I know I´m not very good at this blog thing, but it makes me smile everytime I get a comment from you guys! thank you.

I feel pretty good today, because I got to sleep in and don´t have to be at uni untill 11!  woho. (and I probably wont stay around for a long time) Looking forward to my cycling impossible class at 14:15. Its genious! Weights & spinning in one class! efficent! I like!

Its snowing again. blaah. I really want spring & summer. I´m still not sure what to do for my summerholiday. I´ve applied for several summerjobs, but I will probably have a week or two for travelling anyway.

Any suggestions? It must be sunny & have shopping! (Not Turkey..)

... I was having the TIME OF MY LIFE studying abroad in Australia. We had an awesome apartment with the best view EVER.  (probably never going to have such a nice view again. atm I´m looking straight into the neighbourgh house through the small windows in our basement appartment. IRONIC) So yes, Im missing the easy life, though uni was extremely busy.

So, this time one year ago, my friend & I spent the weekend alone in our apartment & had a lovely evening consisting of wine, cheese, biscuits & a 90´s party. We actually walked to the party in these PJS! Comfiest party I´ve ever been to, & so many crazy stares on the street. FUN TIMES!

Over the last couple of days my back has been hurting like hell. Yesterday I spent the whole day in the couch and lying on the floor... blaaah. Boring! But today Im better & hopefully its gone by friday. *fingers crossed*

I went for a long run/walk today because it helps my back, and today it was pouring down! I´ve never realised how AMAZING it is running in the rain. Not a lot of people were out & it was pretty much me and the rain. Got totally soaked, my jacket  probably has to dry for 6 days. ha ha... Well, the run cleared my head. Im definitely not staying in another time just because its raining...

I dont even know why im writing this. im just rambling. Dont have much to say. But hey? thats what a blog is for right? writing whatever comes to your head....

Anyway, I have the worst hangover today. I can´t remember last time I had it this bad. But the masqueradeball last night was AMAZING! so many gorgeous masks & dresses & people. It was worth the hangover today! I´ll put up some pics of my dress and mask later if I can manage...
